The Festival of Wreaths is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Kiwanis Club of Myrtle Beach, and preparations are officially getting underway.

Each year, this fundraiser brings together local businesses, organizations, Kiwanis members, and neighbors who want to support children in our community. The finished wreaths become part of the Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals in Myrtle Beach, creating a holiday tradition that allows us to raise funds while introducing even more people to the work Kiwanis is doing throughout the Grand Strand.

There is a lot that happens before those finished wreaths are ready for the show, though. Right now, we’re looking for community members and local businesses who would like to help us bring this year’s Festival of Wreaths to life.

How the Festival of Wreaths Works

The Festival of Wreaths is held as part of the Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals, a longtime holiday event in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Our decorated wreaths are displayed during the event, giving attendees an opportunity to enjoy the creativity that goes into each one while supporting the Kiwanis Club of Myrtle Beach.

For our club, the fundraiser is about much more than Christmas decorations. The funds we raise help us continue the community service projects, youth programs, school partnerships, and other initiatives our members take part in throughout Myrtle Beach and Horry County.

Our focus remains where it has always been: local children.

That’s why getting the Festival of Wreaths ready each year is such an important undertaking for our club.

Three Ways to Support This Year's Festival of Wreaths

We still have several opportunities available for people who would like to participate.

You don’t have to be a Kiwanis member to help. Local businesses, organizations, community groups, and individuals throughout Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand are welcome to get involved.

Decorate a Wreath

If you enjoy decorating for Christmas, we still have a limited number of wreaths available to decorate.

This is an opportunity to get creative and contribute something unique to the Festival of Wreaths. Previous displays have included wreaths with very different themes and personalities, which is part of what makes seeing the finished collection so much fun.

Decorating a wreath can also be a great project for a local business, organization, or group of friends.

With only a few wreaths remaining, anyone interested in decorating one should reach out to our club soon.

Donate Gift Cards

Each Festival of Wreaths entry includes a minimum of $50 worth of gift cards.

We’re looking for local businesses and community supporters who can help us meet that need.

Gift card donations can be a simple way to participate if decorating an entire wreath isn’t practical for you or your organization. Local restaurant, retail, entertainment, and service gift cards can all help us build the value of the wreaths.

For Myrtle Beach businesses, it’s also an opportunity to participate in a local fundraiser connected directly to the community you serve.

Sponsor a Wreath

If you’d like to support the Festival of Wreaths but don’t have the time to decorate, you can provide funding for our club to have a wreath decorated.

This option allows more people to participate without having to take on the decorating themselves.

Our Kiwanis members and volunteers can take care of preparing the wreath while your sponsorship helps make it possible.

Why Community Support Matters

The Festival of Wreaths is a fundraiser, but it’s also a good example of how community service works in Myrtle Beach.

A business might donate a gift card. Someone else may decorate a wreath. Another neighbor may provide a sponsorship.

When the Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals arrives, all of those contributions come together in one place.

The support we receive through the Festival of Wreaths helps the Kiwanis Club of Myrtle Beach continue working with children, schools, and community partners throughout Horry County and the Grand Strand.

Throughout the year, our members are involved in projects that address local needs and create opportunities for children. We support youth programs, recognize students, participate in community events, and work alongside other local organizations.

Fundraisers like the Festival of Wreaths help make that work possible.

A Myrtle Beach Holiday Tradition With a Local Purpose

The Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals draws people together for a holiday experience here in Myrtle Beach, and we’re proud that the Festival of Wreaths is part of it.

For visitors, the wreaths are something beautiful and festive to see during the show.

For our club, we know the story behind them.

We know about the businesses that donated gift cards. We know the volunteers who spent time decorating. We know the sponsors who stepped forward because they wanted to help.

Most importantly, we know where the support ultimately goes.

It stays connected to the work we’re doing for children and our community right here in the Myrtle Beach area.

Local Businesses Can Make a Difference

We’d especially like to invite Myrtle Beach and Horry County businesses to participate in this year’s Festival of Wreaths.

Community partnerships have always been important to Kiwanis Myrtle Beach. Local businesses are part of the same neighborhoods and communities our members serve, and their involvement helps us extend what our club is able to accomplish.

Supporting the Festival of Wreaths doesn’t have to be complicated.

If your business has a gift card to contribute, we can put it to use.

If your team would enjoy decorating, ask us about one of the remaining wreaths.

If sponsoring a wreath makes the most sense, we can help with that too.

It’s simply another way for local businesses to support local kids while taking part in a well-known Myrtle Beach holiday event.

The Work Starts Now

The Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals may still be ahead of us, but preparing a successful Festival of Wreaths takes time.

Wreaths need decorators. Gift cards need to be collected. Sponsorships need to be secured. Then everything has to come together before the finished wreaths can be displayed.

Getting an early start gives our volunteers the time they need to make this fundraiser successful.

If you’ve supported the Festival of Wreaths before, we’d love to have you involved again.

If this is the first time you’re hearing about it, we’d be happy to tell you more.

Get Involved With the Festival of Wreaths

There are currently three ways you can help:

Decorate one of the remaining wreaths.

Donate gift cards to be included with a wreath. Each wreath will include at least $50 worth of gift cards.

Provide funding so Kiwanis Myrtle Beach can have a wreath decorated.

Every contribution helps us prepare for one of our largest fundraisers of the year and continue the community service work our members care deeply about.

If you’re a local business, organization, or resident interested in supporting the Festival of Wreaths, reach out to the Kiwanis Club of Myrtle Beach to learn more about the opportunities that are still available.

We’d love to have more of our Myrtle Beach neighbors involved this year.
